WHO WE ARE
Nova Lux was created as a natural extension of Newcastle Skin Check to respond to the need of patients who were after more than just healthy skin - they wanted it to look great too!
In collaboration with Newcastle Skin Check, Nova Lux provides cosmetic treatments for all the conditions we see as a result of living in this sunburnt country.
All practitioners are Registered Nurses or Doctors with additional training and are experienced in a range of cosmetic treatments.
MEET
JOANNA CRISP
Joanna has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years and first started working in cosmetic nursing 20 years ago. During this time, Joanna has gained a vast array of nursing experience and skill with many cosmetic treatments including I.P.L./laser, skin needling, chemical peels, anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, Platelet Rich Fibrin (P.R.F.), and biostimulator treatments.
This experience, along with her extensive hospital- based nursing experience, and undergraduate and Masters qualifications in marketing and business, all help Joanna to provide exceptional service. Joanna thoroughly enjoys all aspects of helping her patients address their facial concerns (particularly ageing changes) and she is committed to achieving beautiful and natural results for her patients. She is also very passionate about the importance of cosmeceutical grade skin care (such as Ultraceuticals) in conjunction with in-clinic treatments, in order to help achieve optimal results.
MEET
GEORGINA FINNEY
Dr Georgina Finney has worked for the past four years as one of the skin cancer doctors at Newcastle Skin Check, and has extensive experience treating both skin cancers and benign skin conditions. She is passionate about restoring skin health, beauty and confidence for her patients and focuses on achieving natural and rejuvenating results. She is available to discuss general skin health, including management of conditions such as rosacea and hyperpigmentation, as well as anti-wrinkle treatment and fillers. She is also experienced in the removal of cysts and moles for aesthetic purposes. For those booking an aesthetic medicine consultation with Georgina there is an option to combine this with a skin cancer check, addressing all your skin needs in the one appointment.
Georgina has lived in Newcastle since 2006 after graduating from medicine at Sydney University. She is a fellow of the Royal College of GPs and has completed an Advanced Certificate of Aesthetic Medicine and a Professional Diploma of Dermoscopy.
MEET
LOREN DOWNEY
Loren is our Nurse Unit Manager/Registered Nurse with extensive experience in both public and private hospital settings, specialising in adult and paediatric anaesthetics and recovery. Loren joined the Novalux team in 2020 and has completed her Postgraduate IPL/Laser safety Certificate in 2021, performing hundreds of laser treatments per year using our medical grade
k-laser to remove moles and skin tags, as well as vascular and benign skin lesions.
When not performing cosmetic treatments you will find Loren working alongside our doctors in surgery and in the clinic, providing treatment and advice on all aspects of skin health.
